PACKING AND HACKING IDEAS FOR A SMART TRAVELER
1. ROLL YOUR CLOTHES INSTEAD OF FOLDING
This is an obvious choice. Try it and you’ll be surprised at how much space you can save while packing. Rolling also helps to prevent creases that would have formed while folding.
2. PACK YOUR SOCKS INSIDE YOUR SHOES
To save space, pack your socks inside your shoes. Try to fit maximum pairs inside each shoe.
3. KEEP THE HEAVY STUFF AT THE BOTTOM
If you’re carrying a wheeled trolley bag or even a handbag, keep your heavier items at the bottom for even weight distribution.
4. WATERPROOF YOUR BELONGINGS
By lining the inside sides of your bag with ziplocks and cubes carrying your belongings, you can easily waterproof (partially) your belongings. And if you’re carrying a raincoat, just pile it on top of everything else and you’re done!
5. USE PACKING CUBES
Pack your clothes in different colored packing cubes to keep them separate. This will not only allow you to group similar clothing items together, but it will also allow you to be more organized. Also, SAVE SPACE!
6. USE LAUNDRY BAGS
To keep your soiled clothes and wet swimming costume from spoiling the fresh ones, keep them in a laundry bag. It’s in almost every hotel room, and they’re there for a reason.
7. LAY YOUR WRINKLE PRONE CLOTHES ON THE BOTTOM
If a dress or suit is going to wrinkle, lay it flat in the bottom of the bag or suitcase to save money on laundry at the hotel.
8. PACK EVERYTHING, CARRY HALF OF IT
To help you decide what is essential to bring on your trip, pack everything that comes to mind and then remove half of it. You would have filtered out the unnecessary items and would only be carrying what you actually need.
9. CARRY A SOFT HANDBAG WITH A STRAP
Most of us travel with handbags because they are useful for storing items that we cannot fit in our pockets. However, the next time you travel, opt for a soft handbag with a strap to free up an extra hand while pushing your trolley with the other.
10. PUT BREAKABLE ITEMS IN SOCKS
Put your breakable items like perfume bottles and glassware in socks to prevent breakage. Additionally, try stuffing the items between clothes to protect them from both sides.
